Along with working at Fortune Academy as a receptionist, I volunteer with the school’s running club. I help with practices and encourage the students to do their best.
At first, I was a little nervous about this, considering I only ran track in 7th and 8th grade. My nerves were gone after the first practice! It was awesome seeing the kids give it their all. At the end of each practice, we talked about the techniques and challenges of running. We relate the challenges of running to the challenges kids with learning differences deal with every day.
Even though you may not be good at something right away, such as reading, writing, or even running, it’s important to keep trying. It was amazing to see how much the kids improved. The coolest part about it was that the kids actually noticed the improvement themselves!
